This week we are speaking with Dr. Norman Rosenthal, author of Defeating SAD: A Guide to Health and Happiness through the Seasons. Dr. Rosenthal explains the difference between SAD and the winter blues and the options to help mitigate the depressive symptoms.

Dr. Zoe Martinez is a Board Certified Psychiatrist who specializes in children and adult ADHD and she is also a clinician at Done Mental Health Services. Done offers online services to diagnose and treat ADHD.
Women are 50% less likely to be diagnosed with ADHD. Many women chalk symptoms up to hormones or a busy schedule but if you have trouble focusing, prioritizing facts or remembering appointments and schedules, it may be more.

This episode originally aired in February, 2023. At the time, Veozah (the non-hormonal treatment for moderate to severe hot flashes) was still under consideration for FDA approval but as of May, it has been approved.
We had an important conversation with Dr. Nanette Santoro, Ob/Gyn, professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and associated with Astellas, the pharmeutical brand that launched Veozah.
She answer our questions on Veozah's use and effectiveness as well as concerns.

The holidays are their own kind of crazy: family, crowds, difficult memories and it can be hard to find the calm.
On this week's episode, we talk to author Brigid Delaney about finding Ataraxia (sense of calm) when the external world feels chaotic. Brigid's new book is called REASONS NOT TO WORRY: How to Be Stoic in Chaotic Times. She references stoicism as a practice where we can choose to control our reactions and character and release control of all else.

Ozempic? Wegovy? Zepbound? Menopausal women are being bombarded with new weight loss medications as the possible answer to menopause weight gain.
But, are they the right answer?
We went straight to the source and spoke with Dr. Daniela Hurtado. Dr. Hurtado is a physician and scientist and she is part of the Mayo Clinic's Precision Medicine for Obesity Program. She explains why weight gain is happening to midlife women, a variety of different options that may help and the "skinny" on these medications.
